Tiny Puppies Abandoned In Box

Grace Higgins | May 7th, 2019

An individual out for a walk in Anson County, North Carolina noticed something odd on their trek. On the edge of a wooded area, there was a bright green plastic box sitting there. The individual was confused and even a bit curious, so they got closer. When they looked inside, they could not believe their eyes: there were five very small puppies inside. The puppies were so young and so small they couldn’t get out of the bin on their own. Someone had abandoned them there and just left them to die on a day that reached a high of 90 degrees. If they had been left there much longer, they probably would have died.

Luckily, the Good Samaritan jumped right into action. The individual grabbed a dog crate and loaded the puppies inside and gave them food and water. Then, they took them to the Rescue Dogs Rock NYC’s veterinarian partner located in Columbia, South Carolina. All of the puppies were dehydrated, weak, and did not smell so great. One of the puppies they feared had parvo, but luckily with some good nutrition, a bath and some fluids, all the puppies managed to survive the terrible experience. Vets believed the puppies were around 6 weeks old and gave them the cutest names: Snoopy, Sanders, Sullivan, Sassafras, and Simon.

Each of the puppies received their vaccinations, deworming treatment, medication, fluids, and plenty of love and affection. The puppies are now thriving and starting to grow and gain weight. The puppies are so fortunate and lucky that they were rescued when they were, because now they have a fighting chance at a happy and healthy life. The puppies are not ready for adoption just yet but the Rescue Dogs Rock NYC group is accepting applications for them. Once they are strong and ready, they will go to loving forever homes!
