Tiger Woods won the Masters on Sunday, his fifth win and first in over a decade. Woods has been plagued by personal and professional demons in the last ten years. It was complete with a public divorce drama, back surgery, a DUI, which centered around intrigue, infidelity, and a $100 million divorce settlement. The 43 year old golfing legend, was written off, as ‘done, and never will again.’ His grit and determination proved everyone wrong, and many in the sports world are calling Tiger’s win on Sunday, ‘the greatest sports comeback of all time.’

Once person who tuned in to the game was long time Tiger Woods friend, President Donald Trump.
Trump announced late Monday that he was awarding Tiger with the ‘Presidential Medal of Freedom.’
The president a long time golfer, said via twitter, “Spoke to Tiger Woods to congratulate him on the great victory he had yesterday’s Masters, and to inform him that because of incredible success and comeback in sports and more importantly, Life, I will be presenting him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.” The award is the highest one that a civilian can receive, according to the ‘White House.’

Tiger and Trump have been friends for the last two decades. Tiger was recently golfing with the President in February, at one of Trump’s many golf courses in Jupiter, Florida. Some of the past winners of the award were, Bob Hope, Michael Jordan, Pope John Paul ll, Kareem Abdul-Jabber. Tiger’s two children with his ex-wife Elin Nordegren, daughter Sam,12, and son Charlie,10, and Tiger’s mother were at the Masters to cheer him on. He ran to his son Charlie, after his historic win, he said his son never saw him win anything, ‘and it was really important.’ Woods and Nordegren married in 2004, and divorced in 2010, after many of his extra marital affairs were uncovered.
