A dog named Old Lady has been through quite an ordeal in her lifetime. The ten year old Saint Bernard went missing recently, running into the thick forests in Minnesota and was missing for 17 days. A woman named Azure Davis, who owns Ruff Start Rescue had just met the sweet senior dog, but she hoped the story would have a happy ending. You see, Old Lady and some 400 other dogs were recently rescued from a puppy mill. The Ruff Start Rescue arranged a foster home for the dog, but she got scared by the sound of ice crunching when she arrived at her new home and she ran away. She actually drug her foster mom down the driveway on snow and ice before breaking free and running into the woods.

A group called The Retrievers was contacted; they are a volunteer group that works to find lost dogs. Many search groups headed out to find Old Lady, but they came back empty handed. With temperatures in the area dropping below zero, time was of the essence. Then, the call came: a man and his grandsons saw Old Lady tied up in the woods. Her leash had caught on some branches and she was stuck in the snow. Azure and another volunteer approached the dog and were able to cut her free and get her into a waiting car—she was so cold that she was shivering.

It was a miracle that Old Lady had survived all those days out in the cold and snow. Because she came from a hoarding situation, most of her fur was caked with dirt and feces and had to be shaved off, so somehow she managed the cold without her double fur coat. After getting her safe, a woman came forward to adopt Old Lady, who never has to worry about being warm or safe ever again.
