Sad Dog Cuddles Pillow Of Brother

Grace Higgins | June 6th, 2019

Spencer and Rocky were the very best of friends for ten years. The two dogs did everything together over that decade and were inseparable—all they wanted was to just be around one another at all times. Beth Fisher, their owner, says the dogs never spent even one night apart in those ten years. Rocky and Spencer slept in the same bed, ate their meals from the same bowl, and even went outside into the yard together. But unfortunately, their beloved time together recently came to a sad end. Rocky, the blond colored dog had not been acting like himself so his owners took him to the veterinarian for an examination. That’s where it was determined that Rocky had a very large cancerous tumor growing inside his body. Unfortunately, it was too late for treatment and the only option was to relieve him from his suffering and pain.

Rocky had to be put down that day and his owner Beth says it was difficult to deal with his sudden death. No one took it harder than his brother Spencer, who was absolutely heartbroken by the loss. Since Rocky’s death, Spencer gets up in the middle of the night to wander the house to try to find his brother and starts crying because he’s not there. The family brought Rocky’s ashes home and placed them near Spencer’s bed but it was clear he needed something else to comfort him. So, they ordered pillow with Rocky’s face on it.

Spencer was immediately drawn to the pillow with his brother’s face and it brought him the comfort he was craving. Spencer has cuddled the pillow ever since it arrived, carrying it to his bed and even to the sofa for naps. While the pillow can’t replace his brother, it at least provides him with some comfort and means he doesn’t have to sleep alone anymore.
