Dog Gets First Bed

Grace Higgins | July 21st, 2019

A dog named Nala lived her entire life in a trash filled dirty backyard located in Detroit, Michigan. She never went inside and when she was rescued she was only 5 months old—which means is quite possible she lived her entire life outdoors. Despite all she had been through, Nala just wanted one thing in life: to be loved. So, when a family stepped forward to adopt the puppy, they were determined to giver her just what she needed. When Nala was rescued, she was taken to the vet and she was dirty, skinny and had worms. She was treated and though many dogs in situations like hers are often frightened of people, that was not the case with Nala. She was so happy to see people—and so grateful when she was adopted.

Her new family was not sure how she would react to being inside because of her history. They figured Nala would be unsure or nervous but she quickly proved everyone wrong and was so grateful. Nala wags her tail wildly when she’s happy, say her family, and she was so excited to be home. In the backyard where she was found, Nala did not have a dog bed or even a soft place to sleep. So, it was her new family’s first task to get her a bed of her own. They gave her blankets too—and she was so excited to have her own special place to sleep. Her favorite thing, however, is to snuggle up to her people.

That first night she found her way to her human’s bed and even snuggled up to her doggy sibling and it seems the rest is history. Her family says she is spoiled with love now and can’t get enough snuggles at home. She has only been with her family for a few months and it’s like she was always there.
