Dog Calms Himself During Fireworks

A golden retriever named Kimbo is a very good boy. The golden retriever lives with his family in New York City, where he has resided his entire life. Kimbo enjoys going for long walks and adventures with his family and is always up for an adventure with the time comes. Despite living in a busy city that is often referred to as the “Concrete Jungle” Kimbo has plenty of opportunities to enjoy the city life and the fun of all the surrounding areas. He enjoys long walks in the city and especially loves going to the parks located in nearby Brooklyn. He even goes to special doggie swimming pools located in New Jersey and has even gone on several road trips for hiking in the Hudson Valley.

As a dog that has lived in New York his entire life, Kimbo is used to the many sounds and loud noises in a busy city environment. But Kimbo and his owner Marco recently moved to a new Brooklyn neighborhood. The new neighborhood, they soon realized, was very lively and has very extravagant Fourth of July celebrations. Kimbo had never heard or experienced fireworks before and when the loud noises of the fireworks began he was terrified. He was very nervous, but Kimbo it seems is a very resourceful dog.

Marco had friends over for dinner that night so he could stay inside and comfort Kimbo. They wanted to avoid the fireworks, but the loud booms could still be heard from inside their apartment. Kimbo had people to comfort him, but he was still scared and was pacing and barking loudly. They tried comforting him, but there were not enough ear scratches or treats in the world to calm poor Kimbo. But then all of a sudden the barking stopped and they were curious as to why it got better for him all of a sudden. Kimbo had climbed into the tub and surrounding himself with all his favorite toys—he rested his eyes and soon fell asleep. Once it was all over, he was soon back to his sweet self again!
