When someone was visiting the Puntzi Lake Landfill in British Columbia, Canada, they were not expecting to come across a situation where lives would be saved. The visitor, who soon became a Good Samaritan, came across a sealed box at the landfill. They soon realized it was a sealed box that had dogs inside. The box had an abandoned dog (who was later named Casey) inside and nine of her puppies as well. The box was so tightly sealed that they had no chance of escaping. The puppies were just one week old and Casey their mother was very thin and struggling to care for her babies. But luckily they were rescued in just the nick of time.
The Good Samaritan took them to a nearby vet clinic where they stayed overnight for monitoring. Then Casey and each of her nine puppies were placed in the care of the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, also known as the BC SPCA. There were sadly no foster families available for the momma dog and her puppies so they went to the organization’s Quesnel and District location. The staff members there worked tirelessly to make sure Casey and her puppies were cared for an comfortable as possible.
Casey is a little nervous and timid around new people, which is completely understandable based on everything she’s been through. But she is incredibly focused on caring for her babies and is a wonderful mother to them. Casey and her puppies are not available for adoption just yet, but will be in a few months when the puppies are old enough to be on their own. In the meantime, the BC SPCA is caring for Casey and her puppies and searching for the individual who broke the law by abandoning them in such a terrible way.
