Cyclists Save Dog

Grace Higgins | July 8th, 2019

When you are a cyclist, there are many perils you can encounter while out on a long ride on the road. One of those perils is getting a flat tire while out on a ride. Popping a tire may seem like a simple inconvenience or even an annoyance, but that actually turned into a situation where a life was saved recently. That is certainly the case for a man named Eduardo Reis. It all started about a year ago when he was out for a bike ride. Eduardo and his friends all rode out together on a road near his home in the country of Brazil. The ride came to a halting stop when one of the riders in the group got a flat tire. The group all pulled over to the side of the road when it happened so that individual could change their tire.

While the group was waiting they soon realized that they were not alone. They were on the side of the road where they may not have stopped otherwise so it was certainly a fateful situation. While they looked around they realized there was a dog there that seemed to have been abandoned. Eduardo was the one who spotted him first and the dog was so excited to see the people. The individual with a flat tire was ready to ride again and the group had one thing to do before they left: take the dog with them. Eduardo placed the dog on his lap and he put his paws on the handlebars and they took off together.

It was just meant to be that Eduardo rescued the dog from the side of the road that day. Eduardo fostered the dog in his home and gave him a name: Warrior. He spent time trying to find a loving home for the dog and soon it all worked out. A family adopted him and he is now doing very well. All of it is thanks to that fateful day when someone got a flat tire.
