On July 11th, former Sports Illustrated model, Chrissy Teigen stood up to body shamers who created a meme out of one of her vacationing pictures.
On the picture posted on Twitter, Teigen is holding baby Miles on a hot tub with husband John Legend sitting behind her. John appears to be squinting his eyes due to the sun, but the internet saw an opportunity for a meme captioned “When it suddenly hits you that your lady doesn’t have any ASS,” Teigen responded to the tweet by saying, “It’s been 13 years and he knew the first night we met :)”
Consequently, the Twitter user who made the comment tried to defend himself by saying, “We laughing at dude face ma. That’s what makes the pic funny. Stay blessed.” Nonetheless, Teigen pointed out that the joke was about her husband’s face looking at her body. She wrote, “I get it. I know the meme and I see the 100s of comments under it *about* my body and his reaction to it. you were clowning on me or his look at me. that’s all.”
As the exchange went back and forth between Teigen and the Twitter user, others started to add to the thread. One of the users tweeted, “Screw the haters! You’re gorgeous inside and out @chrissyteigen.” The cookbook author is no stranger to body shamers on the internet. Last September, when attending the Emmys on a silver gown, one Twitter user asked, “I’m asking this with the utmost respectful, but is @chrissyteigen pregnant again?” It did not take long before Teigen clapback by saying, “I just had a baby but thank you for being soooo respectful,” Teigen was back on the red carpet four months after giving birth to her second child, Miles, with John Legend.
As Teigen is a powerful and empowered woman, we can trust that she will continue to shut down any body-shaming coming her way.
