Blind Blue Dog Found On Street

Grace Higgins | July 17th, 2019

When a dog named Max was found wandering the streets of Massachusetts, the people who rescued him were very confused by what they saw. The little dog was quite old and completely blind and most baffling of all, his fur was blue. It is safe to say a small blue dog wandering the street is a unique sight, which may have helped in his rescue to safety. He was found and then taken to the Scituate Animal Shelter. The vet there examined him and believed that he was about 10 years old and he had an ear infection. Other than that, the little dog was surprisingly healthy overall. So, after all that was figured out they had just one question remaining: why or how was his fur dyed blue?

His fur was a bright blue color all over his body with the exception of his face. They were confused, but the vet on staff seemed to think he knew why the dog was blue. He thinks that the dog had a terrible flea infestation and his former owners used a flea bath that can cause a light colored coat to turn blue. They obviously cannot be sure, but it seems to make sense. The dog looked like he had fleas recently, but none were found on his body while he was found on the street. Someone tried to help Max but then he found himself on the street.

The staff at the shelter gave Max a much needed bath and haircut, while helped to get rid of his blue coat color. He seemed so much happier and healthier afterwards. Max has such a sweet personality despite all he has been through and loves to be around people. He may be old and small, but he has a big personality and loves being around other dogs and humans. He is a bit on the fragile side, so he is now in a foster home to recover before he can find a forever home.
