Former child actress Amanda Bynes is talking about her public mental breakdown in an interview with ‘Paper Magazine’. Bynes had a very public mental break down that started in 2012 with series of driving infractions including a DUI conviction, it ended in 2013 with her mother Lynn gaining a legal conservatorship over her adult daughter. A judge ruled that Bynes did not have the mental ability to make any legal or medical decisions for herself. Bynes now 32 has been enrolled at the ‘Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising ‘FIDM’ since 2014. Bynes after some set backs will be earning a 2 year Associates Degree this semester, she plans on starting studies in January towards a bachelors degree.
Bynes says that she would eventually like to design and have her own clothing line, but first she would like to get back into securing an acting career. She started acting when she 7 years and secured an agent shortly after that, make hundreds of commercials before getting her breaking role in ‘All That’ and ‘The Amanda Show’ on Nickelodeon in the late 90’s, early 2000’s. She says she ‘was on top of the world’ with a career that others envied. Bynes says she started smoking pot when she was 16, and experimented with out other drugs like cocaine and Molly.
Bynes says trying Adderall was the beginning of the end for her. Bynes says she read an article about the drug stating ‘it could make you thin’. She said she went to a psychiatrist and said she suffered from ‘Attention deficient disorder’ so she could get a legal prescription for the drug. She quickly started abusing the drug, and says she was always high, when trying to work, it became impossible. The public started to speculate about Bynes being on drugs in 2010, when she pulled out of the film ‘Hall Pass’. Now sober for more than 4 years, she credits her parents for ‘always standing by me’.
